Ginevra Molly Weasley was born to Molly and Arthur Weasley, the seventh child and first and only girl. Born at St. Mungo's, she grew up at The Burrow in Devon, England. Growing up with six other brothers - with the twins, Fred and George, so rowdy they could count for four boys, not two - was a trial, but it resulted in Ginny being quite tough and able to take care of herself.
Being the only girl was, at times, lonely, but she never lacked for playmates, as Molly was very strict about the boys excluding her from their various games. The exception to this was Quidditch - Molly feared for her youngest in what she called a brutal but entertaining sport, and never let Ginny participate. This didn't stop Ginny from sneaking brooms out from the family shed and practicing on her own.
This incident is the epitome of Ginny: stubborn and independant. There were several more like it to follow, like the many failed attempts at Molly's teaching Ginny how to cook, and the number of pranks she's pulled, learning quite well from Fred and George.
Ginny was always awed about Hogwarts, and so, after years of accompanying her brothers to Platform 9 and 3/4, she finally got her Hogwarts letter. It was a joyous day, as the last Weasley of the clan finally got the chance to continue the tradition of wizards and witches in Hogwarts.
Sorted into Gryffindor, Ginny's first year of Hogwarts started out as rather overwhelming. Finally being in the school she'd dreamed about, Ginny had a hard time making friends with her fellow housemates, and she ended up spending all her time writing in a diary that had been included with her books.
Soon, strange, horrible things were happening, and Ginny had no memory of being around when they were being occured. She wrote about her memory losses in the journal, unaware of its dire properties. Weeks later, the events came to a climax, and Ginny found herself under Hogwarts, in the famed Chamber of Secrets.
There, Ginny remembers little of what happened. Later, she was told that the diary was a piece of 16-year-old Tom Riddle, and that it had possessed her, making her do horrible things. Harry Potter was the one who had rescued her, and Ginny subsequently worshipped The Boy Who Lived even more.
Ginny has spent most of the summer after this disastrous second year at the Burrow, helping de-gnome the garden and busying herself with various other chores, so she doesn't have to think about what happened at Hogwarts. Hopefully, her third year will be better..
Ginny is a fiery girl. She has the famed redhead temper, and she is very passionate about.. nearly everything. With a very strong sense of Right and Wrong, she often will work to set things on the path of Right. Fiercely loyal, Ginny doesn't let anyone mistreat her friends and family. With her ridiculous amount of brothers, Ginny is quite sturdy, not one to squeal at spiders or mice or frogs in her bed. She does have a feminine side that occasionally surfaces, but will rarely admit to its existence. Ginny is growing into an impressive young witch, she is a force to be reckoned with.
