Siobhan

Short and curvy, Siobhan presents an image of feminine softness. Her skin is fair and smooth, marked by a light dusting of freckles across her face and a myriad of subtle, faded scars across the rest of her. Large, almond-shaped eyes are framed by soft, full lashes - their color the same warm reddish brown of fresh cinnamon. Hair that is kept meticulously bottle blonde falls in soft curls down past her shoulders, always /just/ this side of wild. Well and truly an adult now, she's grown into the pretty promise of her youth; hers is a subtle beauty, rising as much from her charm and sheer force of personality as from her physical features.

Muggle fashion is often a more practical option than elaborate wizards' robes - whether anyone wants to admit it or not. For such occasions, Siobhan makes the minimum possible compromise. Black leather pants - tight to her legs - are tucked into calf-covering black leather boots in a combination that by all the rules of fashion should not work… but does. Pulled over her torso is a long, clingy, sinfully soft turtleneck sweater dress of a deep green. Her mane of hair is swept back from her face with two combs of copper wound into butterfly wings, set with black opals and prismatic crystals both emerald and peridot in hue.

Jack(#485PenACck)
Jack stands about 5'10" tall with dark hair and broad shoulders. Jack has blue eyes and strong features, seen by many to be rougishly handsome.
Lucius
You see nothing special.
Auberon

Not overly tall or overly short, this man might pretend for a moment to blend in to a room. In build, he is altogether balanced, the bearing that keeps his head held high and his shoulders back elegant and well trained. His posture is straight and his footing sure, walking for all the world as though he owns it. Well dressed and clean, he smells faintly of orchid, cedar fire, and fine ink. Stormy eyes are a hazel that trends toward blue, and he does not flinch away from eye contact, even as his thin lipped mouth slips into personable smirks. Greyed temples in dark hair, and the lines around his eyes and forehead mark his age, somewhere between his fourtieth and fiftieth year. For all that his age is obvious, though, he is still a collected beauty. His sense of fashion is dramatic, black on black embroidery, gloves, feathers - It's couture and sharp, and though he is a quiet presence, he doesn't blend in quite as much as he may think. Especially once one takes the time to notice just how pale he is. At first, it might seem his choice of dark, bold colors simply makes him appear more fair, but there is no denying the pallor that all those with vampirism bear.

Maura
Maura does her best to always look poised and elegant; a feat that is made easier to achieve with her slim build. Shoulder length brown hair is usually held back in an updo or with a clip that keeps half held back. Large hazel eyes can sometimes seem a bit too big for her face, during those times when she's seemed more frail then athletic. And she is always seen with a walking aid, be it hanging on to someone's arm, a balance device on her service dog, or a walker or wheelchair.

Beneath a set of wizards robes, she is typically dressed in a stylish blouse or sweater and dress pants - which tend to wear better with the flats or no-heel boots that she favors.
Phillipe

Tall, broad-shoulders tapering into solid hips and steady legs, Phillipe is both remarkable and forgettable at once. Bright amethyst eyes - with just the faintest rings of lavender around the pupils - are set into a pleasant enough face, though his features lend an appearance of 'sharp' and 'stern'. His hair is cool ash brown; kept short and usually sticks out at oddly rakish angles. There are little scars almost everywhere one might glance, but he wouldn't look right without them.

Winnie
"Winnie" Li is a young Chinese woman in her mid or late twenties. She's quite athletic, with a slender frame but well-defined muscle tone in her legs and arms. She probably comes in around 114lbs at her roughly (native) average height of 5'2". Long, straight black hair frames her face, bringing out the intensity of her cool, expressive gray eyes. Winnie's face is relatively unblemished but she does have a few scars from old scrapes and contusions that are probably the result of long hours spent being active.

Nestled beneath the streets of London is the Ministry of Magic. The main atrium of the Ministry sits along the eighth level of the subterranean bureaucratic center of the wizarding world. The peacock blue ceiling above has golden symbols that move across it. The golden symbols and the light reflect off the polished dark wood of the floor. Fireplaces are seen along the lengthy walls of the atrium, used for travel by floo powder. The fireplaces are designated for arrivals and departures. A pair of golden gates are positioned at the end of the Atrium. Next to these gates is a security desk. Beyond the golden gates is a small hallway where there are a series of lifts that take people between the different levels. Halfway down the atrium in a center of prominence is the Fountain of Magical Brethren. It's a group of golden statues in the form of a wizard, witch, centaur, goblin and a house-elf. The statues spout water into the pool they stand in.

Monday mornings in the Ministry of Magic are strange, mystical things. Mostly? It's because they're boring. And a place like this, with magic woven into the very stone and marble, seems like it should never be boring. Alas, the magic of government in the modern age is… really down to Adelard's paperwork fetish. The magic is that they can make it boring. Even the paper airplanes seem lackluster today, as though they can't be arsed to care.

The Monday Morning Oatmeal of Knowledge is very important. Just ask Adelard. Which is why he's sitting in his office, pouring over parchment, and keeping a steady stream of notes all the while. A glass of whiskey sweats on the desk, golden liquor reflecting the light from the fireplace. The door is open, as it always is after nine in the morning unless he's in a meeting. Scratch, scratch, scratch - Quill on parchment, though a moment later, the Lord straightens up, letting go of the quill. It continues of its own accord as he stretches his hand, cracking joints with audible pops and then reaching for his whiskey.

One of those random paper airplane cruises jauntily down one of the hallways, following some errant breeze. It quite improbably, as if by some charm, follows a slightly winding path among the rooms, over the heads of those wearily trudging through a day of work. Then it crashes abruptly into nothing, and a shimmer of light almost exposes the culprit. It is a bird of prey, white feathered with black amng its pinions and a small, wickedly curved beak. The bird bats the plane away and quickly vanishes once more, likely unseen. To most, the plane spirals most improbably out of the air. Beneath that plane a young Hit Wizard stands. It strikes her in the neck.
Win Li is currently dressed for Muggle activities for she's wearing a gray peacoat, short-sleeved black blouse, jeans, and boots. She's carrying a stack of paperwork, no small amount of which is probably forms dealing with a reprimand for lack of formal dress at work. She bats the plane away and grimaces before continuing on her way at a stark pace, shaking her head. The shimmer overhead follows.

Dale has arrived, following the directins he was given, and after asking at the information desk, heads into the Ministry with a visitors badge on, making his way toward Auberon's office. He doesnt seem to be in any particular hurry, and though travel worn and a bit scruffy at the moment, he seems relaxed and at ease.

With a yawn and a stretch and a look around, Icarus Noble, so called Jack by almost everyone who knows him, wanders in, bleary-eyed, hands full of parchment.

Having seen nothing out of the ordinary, Jack carries the week's worth of parchment into the ministry. With a whistle and a wandwave, parchment begins folding itself and flying off to various departments. One starts to go the wrong way, and Jack catches it with a laugh. "No, that's not it," he cautions, re-sorting it correctly this time.

Some people take notes in the morning. Other people do something much more active. Auberon is the latter. Then again, he's got the sort of job where he can work at night. Which means the vampire is quite content to be coming to the end of his day right around nine in the morning. Which is how Auberon finds himself with a stack of paperwork, moving through the upper floors of the Ministry, to deliver reports to those who need them, but only after they've been redacted. Today was a green day, the Unspeakable not dressing in a drab, mistakable manner. No, these robes fall all the way to the floor, emerald green, trailing behind him with half a foot of train. An emerald brooch sparkles at his throat, and he's quite set on his path until one of the messenger airplanes comes to peck him on the shoulder to tell him his 9:30 appointment has arrived. Oh right, that.

A regular visitor to the Ministry the past year or so, Maura can be seen exiting the ambassadorial wing of offices with a canine to one side of her and on the arm of an older man in a tailored suit. "Of course, I'll be back next week like always. Tell mom to stop fussing." The same conversation every time. The paper airplane that sails right past them to land on a nearby desk is new, but they both eye it for only a moment before giving matching shrugs and saying their goodbye's.

For once, Phillipe Fawley is not the Auror stationed just outside Adelard's door (or, more usually, just inside the door). One of the junior Aurors on the detail has that privilege today. He's been called downstairs to examine a relic from his former employment that has been acting up of late. Femme presenting of late, it's nice to be down in the dark and quiet surrounded by people who don't even look twice at the difference.

It's also nice to be free of the damn airplanes.

One of the junior Aurors, indeed. Not one of the usual junior Aurors. No. Siobhan doesn't know whose Cheerios she must have pissed in, but the short straw of babysitting duty today is hers. Not that there's anything wrong with Lord Morhban. She and her siblings have been in and out of 'Uncle Adelard's office almost as often as their own father's. It's just that he's a grown goddamn man and she personally feels babysitting him is not only infantilizing, but a waste of everyone's time and sanity. So she's slumped against the wall outside - arms folded over her chest - and very visibly UnImpressed With Today.

The paper airplane which had been following Win picks itself up from the ground and cruises after her. It prods the woman in the shoulder insistently. She pauses and looks back at it, a faint frown forming on her thin pink lips. It then unfolds to read itself aloud in a soft but curt tone:
"Winifred Lee!

Report at once with the paperwork explaining your lack of decorum in the workplace! Do not disregard this message again. And bring your /robes/ this time.
Being called 'Winifred' never fails to get a wince out of Win. She sighs and alters her course. She'd best actually change this time.

Lucius Malfoy is in his office, looking fabulous. This is obviously his primary calling in life. Just ask him.

…on second thought, do not. Do not ask him. Bad plan.

Nobles and Morhbans and Malfoys aside, it's a sleepy, easy day in the Ministry. That is, at least, until it very suddenly isn't. In the space between one heartbeat and the next, a massive explosion shreds the silence. Its epicenter is down - down into the bowels of the Department of Mysteries, in one very specific far corner. It's a deafening roar and a substantive shaking of the building in its entirety. (At least one floor has partially collapsed somewhere along the line.)

And for a moment afterward, the silence is almost deafening. Just as the first people to stir from their shock start to grumble about what the Unspeakables have blown up this time, however, there is a series of cracks as an army of figures in long black robes and bone white masks that every adult in Wizarding Britain has learned to fear and dread.

Death Eaters. The anti-Apparition wards must be down. And yet… no one is able to Apparate out either.

Shit.

The entire building begins to shake. There's a squawk in the air and a rumbling. Winnie is just about halfway into a sleek blue robe of a foreign design with silver accents when people begin to start apparating into the room. Death Eaters! There's a shout and Win dives for the nearest corner to shelter herself from incoming shots whilst bellowing "Protego!" and making a complex gesture with her hands. It's a valiant effort, but without a wand to focus it turns into burst of electricity that sizzles the air but doesn't /quite/ form into the shield she'd been hoping for. She settles for kicking off the robe she'd been putting on.

Reaching for his whiskey and instead having his whole desk shake, the glass tumble to the ground, and a roaring rumble tear through the building gives Adelard more than a little bit of a start. Standing, Lord Morhban takes a deep breath and buttons the front of his robe, which he had loosened while sitting. Without a word, he steps from his office, strides long and sure, but not at all rushed. Not yet. No, this is measured, even strides of a man who is Not. Amused. Today. There's a glance to Siobhan as he steps through the door, but nothing is said. No, he's just turning down the hall in the quickest route to get down there right now. Behind him, a bright green dragon bounds, eventually launching herself from the floor to settle on his shoulder with a displeased creel.

With a quickly indrawn breath, Jack drops his stupid parchment, looking around. He spots Maura on the other side of the room. "Dammit." His voice thick with worry. "Forgotten it was her day to visit." He starts to make his way toward Maura, feet wobbling as the floor continues to shake. With a slight jump and a hop, he manages to keep his footing as he makes his way toward his girlfriend.

"Maura, love, you alright?" He gets close enough that she might be able to hear him if she's listening. If not, he may try again.

Well, Nymphadora Tonks WAS hanging out with her most favoritist person EVER in the Ministry. That is, she was in the current Head Auror's office doing a debrief about her latest adventure. Or maybe figuring out what to do with the Junior Aurors that have Too Much Time On their Hands. And maybe a bit of conversation of how if Noble has time to Lean she's got time to do… well, something. OH well. It's from this where Tonks was leaving, rolling her eyes at her Mentor and then getting yelled at for rolling her eyes and going to find breakfast when, well… EARTH SHATTERING KABOOM.

Tonks' reflexes are never great, so even if there's no rubble to bury her, she's flat on her ass with her legs tangled up in something. Amongst the cacophony of shouts of others on her floor and in the various office (Damn, Moody, did you Sonorus this morning or what?), it's where she hears the series of pops and the accompanying images. Somewhere, the amount she hears seems… really freaking odd. But she has no time to contemplate. Horror dawns on that heartshaped face of hers as she realizes what this means. "EVERYONE GET UP! The Ministry is in danger." Total DUH, but in this time, the less words, the better and those should be plenty to get everyone's minds working towards what needs to be done. SEcured. EVACUATED. It's then that she sees one of those horribly robed figures. And dshe's about to spend the precious time to get up, until she realizes where he's going. Her wand arm moves, "EXPECTO PATRONUM!" So, the problem with Patronuses is that they're fickle frackers. On the one hand? Tonks succeeds in getting something towards the Death EAter's intended target and as well as telling people along the way what that target is and it needs help. Too bad it's less of a bird and more of a creepy cloud of silvery… not doom. Tonks groans at this and she can almost hear the 'Nymphadora, what the hell was that?!' coming out of the room she fell down in front of.

Siobhan meets that look with a decidedly Unamused one of her own. She's short. She has SHORT LEGS. This having to take like two and a half strides to every one of Adelard's own thing is Not Fun. Still, she's in excellent physical condition (Aurors rather have to be) and manages to keep up. It just looks stupid. "I don't suppose telling you that this is exactly the wrong way to be going would do me any good at all?" It's a dry question - she knows the answer already - but it must be asked all the same. And then there is… The Thing That Came To Dinner streaking past her and shrieking about Death Eaters and Lucius Malfoy and just as she's about to open her mouth, the dulcet tones of Tonks and Moody shouting in the distance make it click shut again. "Nope, definitely going with you." There's a particular group of Death Eaters who look like they've taken An Interest in Adelard's existence, and as soon as she catches on to that, Siobhan's training kicks in and she places herself directly between them and her protectee. It doesn't stop him, but she definitely keeps herself in their targeting line. No raven hunting for y'all today.

One of the groups of Death Eaters starts toward the Floo. Six burly men start in the right direction, but one of them trips on rubble, one of them steps wrong and hits his head against the wall. Another one looks like he might fall, but makes good distance. The leader, the burliest of the group, barks out a crude order and stomps his way to the Floo, waiting impatiently for his fellows.

Okay, world. Okay. A giant fucking explosion is not how he wanted to end his day. A bunch of Death Eaters popping into the Ministry? Well, that's not okay. Immediately, he goes to move to Adelard's office, but… Well, he knows what is in that direction. Cursing under his breath, Auberon drops his stack of papers and moves in the direction of the Death Eaters heading in the direction of Lord Malfoy's office. What a time to wear a train. At least he doesn't have to draw his wand. He tosses a Reductor Curse in the group's direction and hopes to be able to overtake them, but he'll have to make some chaos before he can manage that.

There's another group of black-robed villains causing mayhem. The leader says, "Let's set the place on fire, lads!" The tone sounds much more like a footie brawl than a "death eater" raid. Where are these guys coming from?

On her best day, balance is a *thing*, and the ground shaking beneath them all definitely pulls Maura down like a ton of bricks. Does this count as a confined space yet? Because a lot of brick building suddenly falling around them sure feels like a confined space, her wand pulled out and a protection spell on her lips before she has time to consider.

"Protego Totalum!" As many people as possible; like pokemon, she's gotta get em all. Only she winds up catching kinda none at all really, and it zaps to boot. At least it'll wake people up? All while her free hand grasps for the dog's collar and comes up with a handful of Jack's shirt instead. "Jack! Yeah, yeah… I'm fine. I'm good. Is anyone hurt? We have to … Wait, wait! Isn't Siobhan here today!? We were going to meet for lunch." She hasn't even registered the Death Eaters yet.

Dale salms into the wall, drawing his wand almsit instinctively, he seeks to call up a protective ward, that fizzles out without effect.. He will still make his way toward the lifts, perhaps he can hold them so people can escape.. at least some people.

Winnie is trying to catch her breath. Death Eaters advancing en masse, her back against a corner to avoid errant hexes, and nowhere to go but forward. She takes a second to scan her surroundings and a couple deep breaths follow. Then a Thug calls out a hearty, "Incendio!"
Winnie stares for a moment, watching for the flames to begin but the room remains completely fine. Her jaw drops. Then the Witch starts to laugh. She's almost rolling, shaking with mirth as she casually lifts a hand and makes a sweeping gesture, like a wave. "Sorry, guys. I just… I did fire prevention duty for two years, and that was just… /AQUA ERUCTO/!"
A jet of white, frothing water soars out from her fingers and turns into a roaring torrent, spiraling through the room. Thugs are sent sprawling like bowling pins in all directions as the wave crashes upon them. One is thrown into a wall of the Atrium. The others just scatter helplessly.

Fuck all of this. With a lift of his hand, Adelard causes a humming shiver in the air to fall over himself and Siobhan. It pulses, crackling with electricity that promises to shock any foolish enough to touch it, but it is stable. Esmeralda alights from his shoulder, turning her attention on the Death Eaters who had focused on him. The small dragon shimmers in shades of red and green, and then unleashes a surprisingly large gout of flame. She's too quick, or perhaps too surprising, for the Death Eater, and her fire sparks and crackles as it peels over flesh. With a loud hiss she swoops to turn back toward Adelard as he continues to head for the stairs.

WHAT IS THAT? Is that… "What in Circe's name are you doing with a chicken in the - FUCK!" Dragon fire to the face is never a good time, kids. Whipping the mask from his face to reveal extensive burns, the leader of this group turns to give Adelard his full attention, flanked by two flunkies who do manage to throw up a successful shield charm for a moment of regrouping while the other half of their group splits off to continue down toward their original office target.

"Levicorpus." Jack takes aim at the nearest invader. However, stress and worry… well, Jack's forever rushing in, except when it comes to his work, and this is not work, so with his swish, his own feet lift off the ground. He's floating through the air, led by his feet. He'll also deny it to his dying day, but there's a shriek. Maybe he'll serve as a target? That'd be something at least. Then, Maura and the others might have more chance to make it out okay. Maybe.

Well that's… "I get why she's your favorite child, now." This, muttered under Sio's breath. Something about the burn scarring makes Siobhan's pretty face go hard and cold, and though she does not leave the protective shielding of Adelard's making, there is an odd golden glow that flashes in her eyes, accompanied by a single sharp gesture of her hand out toward the burned Death Eater. A hot wind buffets her and Adelard both, but the force she brings to bear is enough to fling her target back against the wall with a sickening crack, and make his two flanking cronies stumble.;@wait=20;@emit
One of those cronies loses his mask in the process… and looks uncomfortably like the one who'd just died. Those were some intense burns, though, so… maybe they're just similar?

The shouting from the Head Auror's office seems to have died down. This likely means that ol' Mad Eye has gone to one of the problem areas /himself/ to see that things are done /right/, and likely had other means other than simple apparation to get there.

Tonks for her part is still on a single-minded goal. Either her partner or her boss would say her Hufflepuff is showing because she's going straight to finding family…even if it's family that she highly dislikes. Surprisngly enough, Tonks gets to her feet out of her rubble pile with surprisingly deftness. Not that anyone's around to see it. And even she doesn't take the time to marvel because she's using the momentum of a swift motion to begin running after the group to see to them /herself/… and she arrives just in time to see what was left of the group that was going after her Uncle. Specifically, she kind of stares down at one in particular, and raises a Cyan (It was a Cyan day, okay?) brow at Siobhan. "What's Mad-eye told you 'bout makin' a mess?"

"And, again!" If it ain't… well, that's not exactly true… if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. There, that's better. "Incendio!"

This time, whether they can listen, or they actually remembererd the name of the spell, they all say it together. The water at their feet and the walking toward the Floo have taken all their concentration, and uh, fizzle. Nothing. Maybe as much of a smoke out the tip of their wands as an early Patronus lesson, but these boys light nothing on fire. Again.

Well, at least these fucks ran into some resistance. Auberon slips as quickly past as much of this as he can, moving always in the direction of Lord Malfoy's office. When he gets the opportunity, he focuses in on the mind of the one seeming to lead the smaller group. With a thought to get in the way of whatever their plans are, he focuses and then…

Ah fuck.

Auberon stumbles, hissing, hand going to his temple. His head swims with ringing feedback from Legilimency gone terribly, terribly wrong. Right around his edges as he catches his breath, some of what color remains in his features begins to drain. Seems his tactics might be preparing to change.

After watching another fire spell go awry, the third group of troublemakers tries a different tack. Maybe this one will work.

"Petrificus Totalus!" The spell gets off, but uh, doesn't actually do what it's intended to do. The poor sod beside Winnie can't bend his arm. And that is pretty much all. These aren't your normal Fear-Inspiring Death Eaters. These guys are hacks. Speaking of Hack, though, one of them coughs, his mask coming slightly dislodged at the shaking.

"Jack, you are /not/ target practice." Maura hisses, trying not to draw more attention to this situation of him floating up in the air then there already probably is. "But while you're up there, can you see the best way for us to start directing people out?" I mean, if he's already there… and also, darnit. "Protego Totalum!" Now that her head's a little more clear, she's going to try this again please, and make sure some of them are a bit better covered? Yes, please. There's also a bit more urgency to it because hello floating target boyfriend. That's not cool. There's a distinct expression of relief on her face, too, when the shield flares to life to extend around her, Jack, and Winnie as well. "About time the spell worked."

Moody stumped his way off, alright. No one knows the Ministry like his paranoid ass, and he never goes into any room without at least two escape routes. How he makes it to the Atrium is anyone's guess, but he shoots up out of a hole in the floor with suitable levels of drama, cracks his walking staff once on the floor and sends a couple flunkies sprawling with the Jelly-Legs. Because he's a kind old bastard that way. Truly. He's a giver. "Good thinkin', lassie," he barks toward Maura as he limp-stumps closer to her (though he does pause at one point to backhand a Death Eater across the face with the business end of his staff. Such a sweetheart, Mad-Eye. "They're everywhere. This 'as ta be all the blasted snotties in Old Moldy Shortses' arsenal. Needs ta be an evacuation protocol called."

Much quieter than Alastor - and much more of an artist with his wand than these masked thugs - Sir Michael Noble makes his way across the Atrium with the kind of controlled precision that speaks of a man much accustomed to power. It doesn't take him long to reach Alastor and Maura, offering a sharp nod to Moody's statement. "Agreed. Get the injured out of here. To Hogwarts if they have nowhere else to go - Minerva should hear about this, anyway. Alastor and I will hold them off. Can you organize the evacuation, Maura?" It's the only time something like gentleness creeps in behind the clipped tone of command - this is someone who is part of his own family, after all. As he and Moody turn to provide the shield wall for this retreat, there is a quiet aside to the grizzled Auror, voice low and hard. "They caught us off-guard in committee, Alastor. Half the Wizengamot is gone."

Down a bit further, Adelard and Siobhan have effectively cleared themselves a path to the Department of Mysteries, though they may see an unusual sight on their way. The surviving half of that Death Eater team leaves Lucius Malfoy's office with the man himself in their center. Quickly, they are joined by another full team until there are no fewer than nine Death Eaters surrounding Lord Malfoy like the Secret Service around the American President. Lucius doesn't… look like he's in distress, but Lucius Malfoy doesn't exactly have a wide range of emotional expressions so… who knows? What is certain is that he isn't putting up a fight. Not. One. Bit.

Adelard has places to go, that much is evident. His pace has certainly started to pick up as he moves down toward the Department of Mysteries. Seeing Lucius Malfoy, though? That stops him. Whirling on the group, there's a sharp flick of his wrist and a harsh, cold, sharp, snap of, "Incendio." It's practically hissed, as a bright ball of flame curls in the air, heading for one of these Death Eaters… It's stopped by a well timed Shield Charm. The fire flashes bright and disappates, taking the Shield with it. Esmeralda hops from Adelard's shoulder, following the ball of flame, and breathing her own burning breath upon this Death Eater as his Shield fails. Creeling, she turns in the air to circle over, prepared to roast more of them if need be.

Jack finally remembers the counter to the spell that misfired on him. He takes a moment, points his wand at himself, rolling his eyes in the process, and casts. "Liberacorpus." He lands softly on his feet, but not before looking over at the blond Lord surrounded by a sea of Bargain DeathEaters.

"I can never tell with that guy. C'mon, Maura." He makes his way toward her, stopping to give Sir Michael a brisk hug as he does. "Da, you'd better get your own self there, too, or we'll be back to find ye." His brogue rolls thick with the worry. Raising his voice more loudly, he wraps his arms around Maura and gestures toward the nearest Floo point. "Let's get to Hogwarts!"
Tonks has partially disconnected.

Siobhan is fine to move when Adelard does. Honestly, she's known him long enough (and worked in the Auror office long enough now) to have a pretty good idea of what he's going after. No one's seen anybody come up from the Department of Mysteries, yet - and since that's the whole reason this is her job today instead of Phillipe's… It doesn't take rocket science (which is good, she can't do that) and she's not going to stop someone from finding their own spouse, bUT HE KEEPS PICKING FIGHTS ALONG THE WAY. She is so done with this whole day, and so there is an audible crackle of power in the air around her. That golden glow is back in her eyes, and there's a strange sort of augment to her voice - one hand raising to trace wisps of smoke from above her head down toward the floor. It certainly feels like Protego Maxima, if one knows what that feels like, but her methods are a bit… odd. "Come on, this will hold around us for a little while, but we need to pick a direction and move." Yes, he's like three times her age and yes he's a hereditary member of the Wizengamot, but right now he is the protectee - and Sio has no qualms about being bossy about her own job.

It's probably a good thing that Tonks is up here and not down in the Atrium. Oh and that there's mayhem everywhere. Because, Sigh, Sir Michael. Ahem. Some things a girl never outgrows. Besides, something else has her attention. Mainly the security detail of doom surrounding Lucius. Her focus is on the man at the center, and her brows are furrowed because she can't tell if he's there of his own free will or if he's being coerced or something. All the commotion and GOD DAMMIT SIO warn her before you vanish like that has distracted her enough that she can't quite make out the science of coercion.

"Hey, wanna see a move my Dad taught me?" She brandishes her wand, "Bowling for Death Eaters!" Yes, this was likely loud enough to be heard in the Atrium, sorry Mad-eye. And then the wand is pointed at the Death eater most likely to cause the most knockdown in the fall out, "Everte Statum!" To her surprise, it actually works. Her spell flings the intended backwards and he barrels into his fellows, likely causing a small domino effect with bodies. Unfortunately, Lucius gets bumped…quite a bit. With a grimace, "Sorry, Uncle." Okay, hey, she looked sorry right up until he shoves the one guy down and walks over - ON - him. Now her face is total 'Did you have to show off?' Because probably, yes, yes he did.

For the very observant, there's a moment when Auberon pulls himself together another to catch back up to this group where he hesitates. There's the smallest twitch at the corner of his left eye. His right hand balls momentarily into a fist, there is the slightest touch of a frown that pulls one side of his mouth down and makes a faint line between his brows. It lasts less than a full breath. The draining of color from his face continues, giving him a tired, hollowed look. In the next moment, he is gone. The blink of an eye and if it weren't for the fact that there was no tell-tale 'POP', some might have thought he had Apparated. To Lord Malfoy's office he heads, throwing open the door with unbridled ferocity.

Maura was probably about to fumble with the smelling salts at the sight of a shock spell being used to harm someone, the gasp bubbling up from her throat just when Moody shoots out of a hole. She doesn't look particularly put out when he backhands a Death Eater though. She might even give a 'good riddance' sniff while she's at it. And now, more then sufficient cover to pull herself back up to a standing position and maybe even dust off her robes a little so she feels more presentable in the face of the Head Auror and Sir Michael. "Yes, of course Sir. Sirs?" How exactly does one address Moody anyway. "Right."

Having something useful to do helps her compose herself, a slow look is given around the room to take stock of the situation in its entirety before she begins directing people in an organized manner towards the safest ways out, where the injured need to be sent, what floos or lifts to take. At least until Jack arrives again at her side and she's calling out last minute instructions all the way to the floo she's herded towards. "Okay, now we can go." And now she'll let the worry creep into her voice.

It isn't long before Faulkner has managed to fight his way up from the lower decks, pausing long enough to un-hex Winnie (The Hit Wizards gotta stick together, right?) before taking up position alongside Moody and Sir Michael to Hold The Line.

Moody smacks his staff on the ground near Dale, breaking the curse on his legs and barking at him to help with the evacuation before muttering something under his breath about 'once a wee snottie always a wee snottie', but it's not like it's a secret that he's not a nice man. Moody has been an Auror for decades and has survived this long because he is a powerful and wily duelist - but under these kinds of numbers, even he starts to look pale and tight around the mouth. There's a brief moment of respite when that blue eye spins sickeningly toward Sir Michael, preceding a rough, low, "You oughta go, Noble. Coordinate with Minerva and St. Mungo's." It would be a stretch to call them 'friends' but there's definitely a mutual respect there. "The old bastard's not come yet, an' I don't like what that says about th' fuckin' grand finale." Voldemort always did save the biggest for last.

Sir Michael is a touch busy, at the moment. A precise and elegant duelist, he makes an almost uncomfortable juxtaposition against the blunt thugs taking him on. Jack's sudden hug is enough of a distraction that his cheek ends up grazed, but he only arches a brow toward his second son. "Timing, lad. Timing." And that's all he can spare - there's not much time in real life for dramatic, thematic goodbyes or well-wishes. Only cast and shield, cast and shield. It's a rhythm he knows well, though he too begins to look pale after a while. Moody's suggestion is met with a small shake of his head, however. "This is the oath I took, Alastor." Nevermind that the swearing in of Chief Warlock is mostly a ceremonial affair. No, Sir Michael has to be the one bastard who takes it with deadly seriousness. "We get out everyone we can, then we go. End of discussion." He never raises his voice. Sir Michael Noble almost never raises his voice. Not even here, in the bloodied ruins of his life's work. Not even now.

That's a good shield spell there, Sio. It means that if you can get the old man to move, there's not much in the way of Death Eaters on the way who seem to notice your existence, let alone try and stop you. It's the getting him to move part that's sometimes… difficult.

Maura has disconnected.

Win stumbles when the curse hits her, but then her fellow Hit Wizard has her unhexed. She gives the Death Eater standing over her a shove. He wobbles like a weeble, then remembers he's literally two times her size. So rather than going down he tries to stomp and Win rolls. She uses the distraction to scramble like a lunatic for the far side of the room, sliding along the way. Win /finally/ has her wand in the proper casting position when she takes her place behind a convenient shelf. She's obviously not intending to evacuate quite yet. She's not even the last of the rank and file in the building!

Adelard rolled 5 at Difficulty 8 for: 4 successes!

Siobhan getting short with him gets a low rumble from deep in Adelard's chest. He huffs, but he doesn't argue. There's a sharp set to his jaw, and he turns on one heel, but he does move. Quickly, too. Now that, in fact, only one person can see him, the old man actually sets off at a proper run. Which… Might be a first in the Ministry halls. Once down in the Department of Mysteries, he pauses for only a moment. The destruction before them makes his stomach do a sickening flip that he tries desperately to tamp down. It's only then that he draws his wand, hand shaking ever-so-slightly as he starts to move rubble out of the way. He says nothing. He barely looks down. And he certainly does not look at Siobhan.

Jack gives his father a quicksilver rouguish grin, more boyish than the normally charming one he gives the rest of the world, and chuckles. "As it may be, Da, but some things supercede." He does have his reasons, and his love for his family is one of those things.

With that being said, Jack Noble starts to shepherd Maura and others out of the Ministry, calling out "Hogwarts" as he does. It takes a moment of explanation, but beyond that, the Floo is held open, and people begin to pour through it. It may show what old-world chivalry Icarus has that Maura is one of the first to head through, Starbuck at her side.

Right now Common Sense should kick in. But Puffs and 'Dorks (Griffyndors, natch) kind of have the same problem of doing stupid things. This isn't necessarily stupid heroics onTonks' part. She's comitted to this course of action. She's an /Auror/ and their job is to take out Death EAters and ther's still a good handful of them left after her Bowling attempt. And let's be honest, Lucius is still family. And she's still unsure if he's willing-willing. So it's with this in mind that a blood curtling…whatever…preceeds the Auror /literally/ barreling into the group, slamming into the first death eater she can for a more… barbaric execution of her previous action. The hit is solid, and hopefully he did move even if he didn't fall down, leavingt the pair in some weird wrasslin' thing going on. "GO!" She turns her attention towards Lucius, her words a simple command that she hopes he'll follow.

Auberon rolled Wits + Investigation at Difficulty 5 for: 5 successes!

+==~~~~~====~~~~====~~~~====~~~~=====~~~~=====~~~~====~~~~====~~~~====~~~~~==+

That unbridled ferocity is met with… A pissy teenager. Auberon sighs, drawing back into himself when he sees that no one is actually in here harming Draco. "Into the fire, now." He says, trying to keep himself from snapping at the young man, but not doing terribly well. There are protests, he knows. He hears them, somewhere in the back of his mind. He doesn't answer them, taking Draco by the arm and pushing him into the fire. A handful of powder is tossed in after the youngest Malfoy, and Auberon clearly, but very tired, tells the fire, "Number 6, Bolt Row, Glasgow." A small coin is shoved into Draco's palm in the last moments, and then Auberon turns toward the desk. With deft fingers and a knowledge of this layout that is almost eerie, Auberon clears out papers, parchments, files, and seals. Things are shoved into pockets throughout his robes, and he goes about it with a silent, cold precision that might, to some, noticably drop the temperature of the room. You know, if he wasn't alone in here. With that done, he turns toward the safe in the corner. He fights with it a minute, but there's no use in it, it's a blood lock. "Goddamnit Lucius, you paranoid fool, let. Me. In!" The last words punctuated with strikes from the side of his fist on the front of the cabinet. It's no good, of course, and he pauses to rest his forehead on the cabinet for just a moment before he turns to leave the office. It's time to get out of here, and to cut a bloody swathe while does.

There is a moment where Lucius can do nothing but stare at his niece. (He doesn't know what that sound was, but it was horrifying and she might need professional help.) When she speaks, it snaps him out of that train of thought, but presents him with a conundrum. He weighs his options for all of like… three seconds, then heaves the heaviest possible sigh and with a perhaps surprising speed, whips his shoulder around to punch the Death Eater in the nose. It's a pretty damn good aim, too - and there is something about the snap-crunch of bone and cartilege that is… deeply satisfying. It's enough to make the bastard let Tonks go, but that's about all he's got going for him, here. "We had a deal," he hisses, stepping back from that strike as calm as you please - like he'd just sneezed instead of breaking a nose. "She counts." Could he stand to be a little less opaque? Probably. Might actually kill him, though.

"You wanna play that card, gov'nah?" The Death Eater with the broken nose whips off his mask and spits blood on the floor. That's… yeah, no, that's definitely the exact same face they've all had. Exactly. Cause that's normal. "Fine, same rules apply." His face is already starting to bruise and he has to spit blood again in order to speak, though this time he does so right in Lucius' face. Because he can. "Move."

Meanwhile, back at the ranch.

The scene Siobhan and Adelard come on is awful. Whole sections of the Ministry have collapsed down onto the Department of Mysteries, and there are places where the very stone is still hot enough in the explosion's wake to be glowing. Adelard's levitation charm lets them keep moving, but reveals bodies along the way that… no longer look much of anything like bodies. As of yet, no signs of life.

Win takes a deep breath. She makes a quick gesture with her wand and calls out a soft, "Protego!" as she surveys the room from her place beside the shelf. "I'm going to look for more evacuees. There were people heading toward the Halls of Mysteries." She then gestures irritably with her wand at the people fleeing through the floor. "Keep it moving!"
Win is again off at a sprint, the air crackling around her with an impromptu Protego. The power is just /asking/ to leap out. Unfortunately for Brick House, he tries to get into Win's way. This time she barely brushes him as she sprints.
*SPLORT!* The scent of ozone is on the air as the whole shield crackles to life. "…That wasn't intentional," Win mutters to herself. Seeing the Death Eater twitch reassures her it was all well and good.

Well… Shit moves. Rocks lift, and at first it looks like Adelard might just pick up this whole sodding mess at once and we could be out of here in a jiffy. And then it all TAKES OFF LIKE A SHOT. Cursing as he loses control of the Charm and large stones fall into other piles at the edges of the room, Adelard cringes. There's a shiver down his spine of deep, recoiling regret and a hiss that is more instinctive than anything else. There's no time to stop and think about it, though. He takes a deep breath, putting away his wand (It does NOT seem to be helping) and continuing his search.

She holds it there, perfectly still, and when she speaks it is through clenched teeth. "I think… if I let these down… that wall isn't… going to hold." So, you know, time crunch. BUT NO PRESSURE. Oh thank heavens giving Lucius the benefit of the doubt payed off. NOt that she'd care, but she'd so hear about it later if she attempted to save him and it backfired. At the Death Eater's comment about 'we had a deal', Tonks gets her wand and points it at the man. "Deal with this, assmunch!" She aims the tip towards his already busted nose. And her next words are series that Students everywhere fear; the dreaded Bat-Bogey Hex. To Lucius though, she's less of a raving, wand-nose-shoving, death-eater-tackling maniac. "We'll protect them." Hey, the 'deal' thing likely tipped her off, she might've not heard the 'She counts'. Turnming away and not seeing the wrecking job bogeys have done to the man's nose, she offers, "Get them to Hogwarts. Mad-eye might got the Floo going for broke, I'll tag along…" she leaves off 'if you want' or 'if you need'. Best not to press it. This might be the extent of the help he's willing to accept from her. She's also not aware that Auberon is likely three shakes of a lamb's tail from performing that duty himself. Fine by her. She'll forgo one Auror job (Escort/protect) for the main one (Death Eater Doom). but she really should be thinking of retreat herself. It's a fair shake that she isn't.

There are some things you do not do. You do. Not. Touch. Auberon's. People. It's unacceptable. It's heinous. It is, for his twisted take on reality, the definition of evil. Which is why, as Auberon marches down this hall in a flurry of billowing, emerald robes. Now he's mad. Now he's walking with a sharp click, click, clack from the heels of his shoes. Now, he draws his wand. A tiny, sharp thing of a pale, white wood. It's neat little movements as he approaches this group of Death Eaters. One catches his eye, and there's a wicked, little grin as he practically purrs, "Imperio." No one should enjoy that as much as he seems to. That neat little wand is the focal point of his victim's eye, and then it is tucked away. "You will give your wand to Lord Malfoy, worm," He hisses as he feels the magic take hold, "And then you will kneel before me like the pathetic bloodbag that you are." And once these things are completed, Auberon bends to sink his fangs into this Death Eater's neck.

Which is when he is knocked to the ground, his head hitting stone. The world swims before him, and then it is dark.

That this peon is bold enough to attack Auberon is bad enough - a sin, so far as Lucius Malfoy is concerned - but that he's actually managed to knock the man unconscious? Well, if one were to judge by the icy hatred which descends over Malfoy's face, it would seem that this poor fuck has just signed his own death warrant. This is not his wand. This feels oily and foreign and wrong, but none of that matters as he levels it in the direction of the Death Eater in question. "Avada Kedavra!" is a hiss, but it is no less effective for being so. With that done, he wastes no time in rolling up his sleeve and uses that same wand to slit open his own arm, walking forward as though to solve this problem himself because goddamnit Auberon now is not the time for your principles.

You know, Lucius, that's an excellent thought. Sweet, even. Unfortunately for you, not all of these Death Eaters are morons. Recognizing a FUBAR situation, one of them shoves through his fellows to sling what looks like a common hardware store metal chain around Lucius' neck and says a word that sounds… mostly like he's coughing. It's the keyword (or close enough for government work) and there is only a moment to witness the raw desperation in Malfoy's eyes before he is just… gone.

You know, at least he got like… maybe a mouthful of blood first? Not much to go on, but should wake him, if nothing else.

Siobhan's spell does, in fact, hold up their little corner of the Ministry, though she definitely looks weird doing so. That's… really not how magic is supposed to work. It's not the best plan ever hatched, but it is at least functional. What a visual to walk in on, Winnie!

Winnie is sprinting down the hall. She's actually just tucked her wand away, in fact, to ensure that a simple trip won't cause her to barrel into an yof the piles of rubble scattered across the hall. When she comes across Siobhan and the awkwardly levitating columns she quickly throws up her hands and calls out, "Reparo!" The column reforms at once, scattering dust and bits of marble as it returns to the state it was in the day it was first formed. Rubble simply shifts out of the way. Pocks in the floor vanish. Winnie skids to a halt in front of it and gasps a few breaths, her cheeks flushed. She's already got her wand out again. "We're evacuating the building. We should head back. Unless…" Unless, of course, there is a reason for them to be going this way instead.

As Siobhan stops the chaos from ensuing, Adelard blinks. There's a glance to her and an appreciative nod. He's about to start searching for Phillipe when Winnie arrives. Looking back at her, he offers a small, almost sad smile. "My husband is down here and I am not leaving without him." He quiets then, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath which he holds for just a couple of seconds. Then, almost suddenly, he's kneeling to the ground and starting to move rubble as carefully as possible. What of it he can't move by hand he's more willing to knock away with magic, having a sense of how many people are actually alive down here. It's a bleak number. He says nothing. Just digs, caring not for the dust on his robes, or the way rough stone will cut at bare hands.

I think we can stabilize this room with maybe two more?" It's been a while, but she'd shared the Slytherin Girls' Dorms with Win for five years out of her seven, so she might be forgiven for the informality - at least at a time like this.

The third voice gets her attention. She might've heard it here or there, but she has no name or face to place with it. And Tonks turns around just to see that Unforgivable happen and its result. And then the Aftermath. "OH heavens," Her hand reaches up to cover the side of her face and turn it in some semblance of giving the man a bit of privacy. Sure, let's go with that. But what's important is she's not taking any aggressive stance. There's no calling out about the Imperius, and no comment about the mid-fight snack, though that really deserves some snark in and of itself (is this really the place for a bite to eat?!). But then there's a whoosh and another Death Eater's on the move, mimicking her earlier attack. It happens too quickly for her to react and stop the man and that's when their recent-third is knocked out. And there goes Lucius. The Killing curse is so quick that Tonks barely has enough time to find a new target before Lucius is trying to revive the fallen vampire. And she's got one but they're too quick. "NO!" This is shouted just as her wand is pointed at the chain-bearing man. She then runs over to Auberon. "GET UP." Then carefully, "Please?" Careful foot nudge. Of like, the LEG.

AS for casting? Her wand is up and moving. She promised. She expects the situation to already been compromised where her Aunt is concerned, but she promised. She has to try. "Expecto Patronum," is uttered again and sent off. "Hogwarts. NOW. There is no time." And then she's bracing herself to face the rest of this mess, positioning herself in a protective position over the man that tried to help them. She will wait until he gets up and gets going before she sees to her own safety.

Auberon hates feeding from his loved ones. Hates it. This is no time for that kind of argument, though, and he is in no position to even make it. The blood fills his mouth and he swallows instinctively. Half a moment later his eyes are fluttering open. Just in time for the rattle of chain and then the familiar presence over him is gone. There's a groggy sound, the first attempt at movement, but it isn't until Tonks touches him that his mind fully registers that yes this is real and happening. Snarling as he pulls himself up, Auberon is incensed in a way that is beyond reason, kindness, or words. "Where. Is. He?" He snarls again at the Imperiused man he still has in his control. Tosses a lazy Reducto over his shoulder. Too lazy. It rebounds, bursting against the ground between himself and Tonks. He hisses at his own spell, recoiling. Luckily, his Vampiric resiliency keeps him conscious this time.

"I… I don't know, sir." The man's natural Cockney twang is made hollow and eerie by the inflectionless tone the Imperius thrusts upon him. "Only some of us had failsafe keys, guv. I weren't one of 'em." There's a flicker of fear in the eyes behind the mask, but it is soon replaced with the haze of Imperius once more.

Down in the basement, the rubble being thrown aside reveals a body that is… honestly, in this condition, it looks like the poor bastard might be better off if it weren't alive. Burns are a terrible type of wound, stripping a body of its humanity so, so quickly. Weirdly, the clothing around his torso remains almost pristine, but his extremities are badly enough burned that identification would be impossible except for one very specific detail. The wrists. The wrists are wrapped in leather that has been protected only by virtue of the magic laid into it - leather that is black and purple and cut to look like the sea.

"I- wouldn't expect you to, sir. I'll do anything I can to help," Winnie replies to Adelard, those wide, dark eyes focused on the man for a moment before he begins to dig. Siobhan earns a quick. With her wand in hand the next spell comes out even more forcefully, thrown out with a swift flick of her wrist. "Reparo!" More stones rumble and reform, debris reversing its course and shifting through the air as they stack themselves and then affix into another brand new column. It also helps to clear the way for Adelard as he digs, guided by the gestures of Winnie's wand. Sharp flicks. Flitwick would be proud.

And so Adelard digs. Desperately. He can't bring himself to speak again, especially not when he starts to reveal flesh. These burns are bad. There's no two ways about it. Adelard's breath hitches and shakes, but he does not stop. Finding the places where Rou has been protected eases his panic a little, but only by a shade. At first, he still has doubt, but upon seeing one of Rou's wrists, he swallows hard around a suddenly dry throat. The last of the stone is moved and Adelard takes only half a moment to press his fingertips gently to Rou's unburned chest. Standing, he lifts his hand, even but powerful magic wrapping around Rou and lifting him into the air gently. "I have him." He says, flat and dry, immediately turning to head out. "There are two others alive in here." He nods his head back and to the left, "Or there were. I felt them." But he can't stay for them. Not now.

Siobhan is TORN. If she lets go now, the whole ceiling might fall on their heads and there are still people ALIVE OVER THERE. But but but Adelard is her JOB right now and he is WALKING AWAY and she is definitely muttering under her breath about how he is the single most contrary person she's ever met in her LIFE. But she's not about to let the ceiling fall on Winnie. That would just be rude.

So…this gives new meaning to lighting a fire under your ass…

Tonks weebles and wobbles witht he rebounding spell, hissing as it stings just a bit, but she's one tough cookie and manages through it. She glances around to get a head count and… "Fuck me running…" her shoulders slump. "We need to get out of here," There's an apology in her voice as she goes to tuck one hand under Auberon's arm (the apologetic tone boviously being for this) as she looks for the quckest way out to the Atrium. She's pointing her wand and "Reducto!" And Reducto Is a No-Go! "FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKITYFUCKFUCK!" This is said now as she begins PUSHING (hopefully, she's not letting go of that arm) Auberon towards the quckiest way to the Atrium.

Auberon hisses as Tonks pushes him. He twists, trying to get past her. It's no use. He ends up put over a shoulder with a screeching, inhuman sound that is raw anguish. He claws, trying to get away from her, but there's no real use to it. "Kill these men you were working with by any means necessary. If you survive, protect Lord Malfoy with your life." He snaps one final order at his unsuspecting Imperius victim. And then he relents, knowing he has nothing else he can do, though there is noticable shaking throughout his form, clearly felt by the woman carrying him.

This poor Death Eater. He really should not have gotten out of bed today. That was his fatal flaw. Welp. Nothing for it. Gotta hex the shit out of these guys. This… this is not a dignified end.

When Tonks arrives in the Atrium with her shrieking bundle of bat, the 'line' being held by Moody, Noble, and Faulkner has been pushed back a fair few feet. They're holding out, but there's just - there are so many. Tonks doing her duty by her Uncle is admirable, but that spinning blue eye SEES ALL. And just as she's set up to drop Auberon into this Floo, there is suddenly CONSTANT VIGILANCE RIGHT BEHIND HER. "Head down, lass." Which is not a terribly helpful warning before he shoves her - SHOONK! - into the fire right along with her cargo. But, you know, Moody's not exactly known for being terribly helpful.

Winnie makes another quick sweeping gestures and yet another column appears. Now that she is in her groove and /actually using her wand to cast/ she's making excellent progress. It's actually very possible she could literally do this all day. Unfortunately, there's a lot more going down than just what is around her. Once the last of the columns is stable Winnie is gesturing to Siobhan hurriedly, her cheeks still flushed from exertion. "Thank you for holding that. It's time to /go/."
With a last glance at the rubble and her thoughts swimming Winnie reaches out a hand, implicitly suggesting she's going to drag the other woman along if she doesn't bolt. She'd be pretty shocked if it came to that.

Hey, as far as she knows, Auberon's just a civilian that was in the right (wrong?) place at the wrong time, and she's making sure that there's one less civilian casualty to deal with. She's really booking it at this point knowing that she's leaving behind an ever growing swarm of Death Eaters. Thank Merlin that she's not seen any of the big names.

She can do this. She can unload her cargo and get back int hat line (OH HI SIR MICHAEL) before anyone knows it. Past Moody, she's about ready to toss Auberon in to the fireplace like a sack o' taters when she FEELS that presence berfore she hears him. "MovewaitNOLETMEHELP!!" She has no time to brace herself, or get out of the way, before she's shoved backwards into the Floo (Hopefully Auberon is squishy, because she's likely landing on him at this rate), her shouted words echoing along with the wide-eyed facial features of someone who feels she's seeing a loved one for the last time. And she likely is.

Look, Adelard has never claimed to be the most reasonable person in the world. Really. He'll probably apologize for all of this at some point, though. Sorry, Sio. For now, he's carrying Rou along with him, and as they leave the Department of Mystery's battered remains, he puts up a shield with a turn of his other hand. There's little concern given to anyone or anything, and the deep furrow in his brow displays how unhappy about this day he is. Though, for those who don't know him well, he may simply look angry. Or maybe he always looks that way. Through to the Atrium he marches, and when he sees Sir Michael there, there is the smallest moment of softening to that expression. "I'll be back." He says simply to those holding the line, though he is heading toward the Floo. It's a promise, really, but he has to get Rou to Mungo's first.

Into the fire he goes with Rou. And immediately pops back in, looking like he's seen a ghost. "Do not send anyone to Mungo's. They are there, too." He says. There's a look sent to Sir Michael then, something bordering on apology, before he will, obviously reluctantly, take himself and Rou to Hogwarts.

Siobhan needs no urging, Winnie. She'll take that outstretched hand, though. There's something deeply ingrained in her that associates running through danger with holding on to someone's hand. An old habit, that. One she does not have the luxury of dwelling on right now. Catching up with Adelard in time to hear the pronouncement about St. Mungo's drains all the color from her face, but the answer is quick to come. "Poppy, get him to - " But Adelard's already on that ride and Siobhan is eager to direct Winnie and any stragglers to follow him. Knowing that Mungo's is compromised makes her doubt the safety of just about everywhere else - except for that ancient castle. "Hogwarts, get them all to Hogwarts." She's got grand notions of helping her boss and her father, though. GRAND. NOTIONS.

Grand notions, indeed. Sir Michael has seen better days - many of them, in fact - and the fatigue shows. Seeing Adelard emerge from the lower levels comes with a visible pass of relief across his face that is… honestly, it borders on the edge of painful. His attention shifts from the fight in a way he hadn't allowed himself before that moment, and for just the briefest instant of time it becomes evident that Michael and his son are not so different after all. Some things supercede. He does not have the luxury of Jack's demonstrative nature (for so many, many reasons) but there is an exchange in that long and lingering look as can only come from two people who have known each other all their lives. When Adelard emerges again, that wordless apology is accepted in kind, and Sir Michael sets his jaw before taking a leaf from Moody's book and spinning his own daughter into the fireplace - sending her careening toward the truest home he knows she'll have.

It's not much in the way of goodbye, but Michael Noble has never done well with goodbyes, and this… Not many men get the luxury of choosing their own death - and this is not the one he would have chosen for himself, but… Standing shoulder to shoulder with other old soldiers sounds as good a way as any.
