Character History:

OOC Note: As things stand Conall is ICly unaware either of whom his father is or what his mother was thus he understandably considers himself to be a Half-Blood. This will change through RP so watch this space ;D

Maeve O’Shea, a powerful witch in her own right had the misfortune of falling for entirely the wrong kind of man. By the time she realized exactly what David Whitmore was and that he was married, it was too late for she was already pregnant. Desperate to keep her unborn child safe from its dark father, she fled to Inishmore, one of the three Aran Islands off the west coast of Ireland. The dark wizard caught up with her however and furious that she’d tried to escape him made use of the Obliviate spell to modify her memory tricking her into believing she was a Squib rather than the fully functioning witch she had been. He even went so far as to implant false memories of her unborn child’s father having been little more than a humble fisherman lost at sea during a storm.

Conall’s childhood was carefree and simple, with the exception of a few strange incidents that he couldn’t explain such as the day old man Drogan’s britches were suddenly set on fire after he caught the young lad trying to steal fish from his catch.

It was only when he joined the ranks of young witches and wizards at Hogwarts that Conall started to realize that things were not as they seemed when he overheard two professors discussing the tragedy of his mother’s supposed Squib status. From that day on, he made it his business to find out everything he could about his mother but kept hitting one dead end after another. Frustration grew turning the young wizard into a brooding version of his former self, serving as the catalyst to many a fight with his peers where thankfully fists rather than wands were used.

By the time he reached his fourth year he was dangerously close to facing expulsion for several infractions including being found prowling the Forbidden Forest after dark. It was only thanks to several of his professors getting together in a last ditch attempt to channel the talented young wizard’s energy elsewhere that Conall made it through to graduation. As a result any and all free time he had from then on was split between his role as a Beater on the Griffyndor Quidditch team and shaping the natural talent he seemed to posses in the Defence Against The Dark Arts.

Upon graduation and having excelled in Defence Against The Dark Arts, Charms, Potions and Transfiguration, an invitation to train as an Auror was extended. The invitation was initially turned down with the newly graduated wizard joining instead the Department of Regulation and Control of Magical creatures where he specialised in Dragons and in particular, the Hebridean Black. Rumour has it that the long black coat that Conall is often seen wearing is made from the hide of one such dragon that thought to turn on him. This is however nothing more than speculation.

Two short years into his assignment news that his mother had been found dead on the stark moors of Inishmore reached the research centre where he was working. Devastated, Conall returned home to bury his mother and wound up disappearing for six months without a trace. When he re-appeared he was a brooding shadow of his former self, quiet and withdrawn and refusing to speak of where he’d been or what had occurred during that time. He was also sporting a tattoo made up of ancient runic symbols wrapped about his left bicep that appears to shift and change at will though few have ever actually seen it.

It was then that he took up the invitation extended at graduation and threw himself into the three year training program to become an Auror. He proved to have a frightening grasp and understanding of the dark arts with a few within the department starting to question his viability as an enforcer of magical law because of it. Conall was also one that seemed to work best on his own, never forming lasting attachments, always on the move and with the ability to adapt at will which made him a prime candidate for working undercover in the Muggle world.

Needless to say he was not impressed when he was pulled off his latest assignment in Ireland’s capital of Dublin and reassigned to Hogwarts to, as he put it, ‘Stand guard over snot nosed brats whose biggest worry is how to get their wands out of their arses in time to be of any use.’

Personality

Charm and wit are worn as easily as the brooding silences he’ll withdraw into at times with snark and snap employed to cut off any that start to get too close. He champions the underdog and has little to no time for the aristocracy of the wizarding world deeming them little more than stuffed shirts puffed up on their own egos and tripping over delusions of grandeur. A mindset (and mouth that goes with it) that often has him treading a fine line between pissing off the wrong people at the wrong time. When it comes to baring his soul, he plays his cards so close to his chest that one would have more success plucking a Snitch out of thin air than in trying to get him to open up.

• Conall is an unregistered Animagus, the ability to use the spell perfected during the six months he was gone doing who knows what.
• Conall’s sire is a Death Eater though he is as yet unaware of this and believes his father to be the humble fisherman that died at sea as was the memory given to his mother.
