Minerva McGonagall has been the Transfiguration Professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for many years; she is also deputy headmistress and the head of the Gryffindor house. Also an original member of the Order of the Phoenix, and an ex-Ministry Witch, McGonagall is never someone to cross, metaphorically or literally. While she is a strict disciplinarian, Minerva is still known for treating the many children of Hogwarts as her own, and would do anything to protect them- and the school itself- from harm.

Character History:

Description

Minerva:
A tall and stately looking figure, with greyed hair curled up in an elegant but practical bun at the back of her neck, some might even call the woman imposing in her own way. Her face is lined with the years of her wisdom and her hands show the same terms of hard work that have accompanied the intelligence in piercing green eyes.

Her clothing is what one might expect of her age and station; a pointed and flexible witches hat, and flowing black robe with brocaded green overcoat that drape down to the floor and nearly hide the black boots she wears. A brooch at the neck in gold and emerald is the only extra adornment.

Animagus:
A sleek and agile looking silver tabby, with black striped markings and long expressive tail make up the mundane part of this feline. It’s the black markings around the eyes in the shape of spectacles, and the unusual intelligence shining in the eyes that mark the cat as being different.

Trivia and Notes:

  • One of the registered Animagi of her century; her form is that of a silver tabby cat. Her patronus also adopts the form of a cat.
  • Though she very likely has pet felines, the only companion that she brings to Hogwarts is an Eurasian Eagle Owl, by the name of Eilwen. Meaning 'white brow' in Welsh, the owl is of the Siberian sub-species and has a fittingly pale set of brows and ear tufts.
  • Minerva is an excellent dancer.
  • Try to avoid challenging her to a game of Wizard's Chess. You will lose. That is a promise.
